In the third episode of our “Exhausted Majority” podcast, Tim and Parker talk about the UAW strike, why telling someone who doesn’t feel good about the economy that the economy is doing well doesn’t make for a winning political message, and the innovation happening with AI in medicine.
“One day it was snowing and my grandmother wasn’t doing well, so [my grandfather] says, ‘Hey can you take me grocery shopping?’ … So we spent the next two to three hours of the day going from store to store to store … I say, ‘Well, there’s a grocery store right here. Let’s just hit this one.’ And he was like, ‘We can’t … the meat cutters are on strike. We can’t cross the picket line.’ That was the kind of ethic where we came from. He was a steelworker for 40 years. He was treasurer of his union. The general ethic in our area was that don’t cross the picket line.”
